PC Ågård

A new biomass heating plant in Falkenberg, Sweden, developed by Falkenberg Energi to support the transition from fossil fuels to renewable district heating.

PC Ågård – Renewable energy infrastructure in Falkenberg

Paroc Panel System supplied AST® Built-On™ stone wool insulated panels for the building envelope, combined with Dri-Design aluminium façade cassettes.

Supporting the transition to fossil-free heating

Commissioned in 2024, PC Ågård is an important addition to Falkenberg’s district heating infrastructure. The plant supplies fossil-free process and space heating to Arla’s dairy facility in Falkenberg, replacing fossil-based energy and helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 3,000 tonnes annually.

At the same time, the new plant strengthens the local district heating network and creates additional capacity for supplying renewable heat to customers in the growing Ågård and Tröingedal areas.

The facility uses biomass-based fuel, including wood chips, to support fossil-free heat production.

A building envelope combining performance and architectural freedom

For the building envelope, Paroc Panel System supplied approximately 1,900 m² of AST® Built-On™ stone wool insulated sandwich panels.

Built-On™ provides a certified solution for attaching additional façade materials directly to the insulated panel system. At PC Ågård, the solution supports approximately 1,000 m² of Dri-Design aluminium cassettes, helping to create the plant’s distinctive architectural appearance while maintaining the performance of the insulated building envelope.

The combination of AST® Built-On™ panels and Dri-Design demonstrates how industrial and energy buildings can combine robust technical performance with architectural flexibility.

Part of Falkenberg’s renewable energy infrastructure

PC Ågård is more than a new heating plant. By replacing fossil-based heating for a major industrial user and increasing the capacity of the local district heating network, the facility supports Falkenberg’s continued transition towards renewable energy infrastructure.

The project shows how energy technology and high-performance building envelope solutions can work together to create modern industrial facilities designed for a lower-carbon future.
